CASE STUDY / Accessibility and data
PictoRecette: visual recipes for greater autonomy.
PictoRecette turns a conventional recipe into a clear visual support for people who find reading, understanding or following a sequence of steps difficult.
A concrete need in social care
The application was designed for cooking workshops in social-care settings. Its purpose is to structure written information into a visual support that professionals and the people they support can use.
An interface shaped by everyday use
Recipes are built step by step, with ingredients, quantities and utensils linked to recognisable pictograms. Consistent layouts and limited text make each action easier to identify.
Connecting and transforming data
ARASAAC provides pictograms. Sources such as Open Food Facts and recipe data from Marmiton can reduce manual input. External information is retrieved, normalised and matched with a pictogram, then reviewed or adjusted by the user.
Symfony 7 and printable documents
The application models recipes, ingredients, steps and utensils with Symfony 7 and Doctrine ORM. Illustrated recipe sheets can be generated and exported to PDF for printing and use in workshops.
Keeping complexity behind a simple tool
This project connects several sources and automates repetitive operations while keeping the interface usable by professionals without technical training.
From this experience to your project
Start from a concrete business need, connect data sources and automate repetitive work behind an interface that remains simple to use.
