Case study: industrial traceability platform

Agency project during my apprenticeship, around the update of a PrestaShop base and the design of a platform dedicated to selling, tracking and tracing refurbished equipment.

Context

  • The project was part of Schneider Electric's Circular Certified strategy, with a strong focus on extending the lifetime of equipment.
  • The work covered both an e-commerce PrestaShop update and a more complete platform to track refurbished products.
  • The business context was demanding, with traceability, automation and reliable exchanges at stake.

Initial problem

  • Evolve an existing e-commerce base without losing established business usage.
  • Structure a coherent product-return and tracking system aligned with refurbishment logic.
  • Support a project where development, acceptance and deployment had to stay aligned with client constraints.

Constraints

  • Maintain usage continuity while updating the existing base.
  • Make product-return flows clearer for the teams involved.
  • Coordinate development, acceptance, deployment and training in a demanding client context.

Solution developed

  • Contributed to the e-commerce update from PrestaShop 1.5 to 1.6.
  • Helped design and develop a platform for selling, tracking and managing the lifecycle of equipment.
  • Worked on client relations, acceptance phases, deployment and training for the delivered solutions.

Main features

  • Redesign of the existing e-commerce base.
  • Product-return and equipment lifecycle management.
  • Secure API to make application exchanges more reliable.
  • Acceptance, deployment and user onboarding support.

Result

  • A more coherent base for tracking products, recirculation and related returns.
  • A project organised around clear business logic rather than a simple technical update.
  • Concrete experience in an industrial context with reliability, traceability and coordination constraints.
